Dolly-Parton
Dolly Parton, who was born in Locust Ridge Tenn. on January. 19. 1946 into a very humble family of 12 children at one point, realized that she could get away from suffering through her vivid imagination. Prior to learning how to write and read, Dolly Parton was creating her own music. Within 8 years she was playing her first guitar. When she was 11 years old she started singing at Knoxville Tenn's local radio station. In the same year, Gold Band Records was an independent label. While still in highschool she established herself locally but dreamed about having a bigger stage. The day after she graduated in 1964 she moved to Nashville. Her first charting hits for Monument Records included Dumb Blonde and Something Fishy both in 1967. Porter Wagoner had been looking for female performers to join his syndicated show at this point. Parton accepted the job in 1967 and signed to RCA Records in 1968 and became a member of the Grand Ole Opry in 1969. Then, in 1974, she left Wagoner's Show because the success of her singles like Joshua Coats from Many Colors or Jolene was outstripping their joint releases. Parton wrote I Will Always love You in honor of Wagoner after their breakup. It made it to No. Its first appearance at the top spot was in 1974.
