Zoe Saldana, born June 19, 1978, was the son of Asalia Nazario, along with Aridio Saldana. Her parents, Aridio and Asalia were both born in Puerto Rico. Her family was from Queens, New York. Her family relocated from Queens in New York, to the Dominican Republic when she was 10, and lived there for seven years. In the Dominican Republic, Zoe discovered a keen interest in performance dance and enrolled in the prestigious ECOS Espacio de Danza Dance Academy where she learned ballet as well as different dance styles. Training was not only a great opportunity for this energetic and passionate young lady, but it also served as a great preparation for her acting profession. As a teenager, Zoe and her family returned in the United States where her love for dancing grew and her enthusiasm for theater performances grew stronger.
