Nathalie Emmanuel

 Nathalie Joanne Emmanuel(born 2 March 1989) is an English actress. Emmanuel started her career in acting with theatre in the mid 1990s when she began to be cast in different West End productions such as the musical The Lion King. Her acting career began in the year 2006 in Sasha Valentine, a soap opera. Then she was a part of various British TV series, including the sequel Maze Runner. Her mother is Dominican and her father is of half-Saint Lucian and half English descent. There is an older sister. Emmanuel recalls that her mother first became aware of her desire and passion to pursue a career as an actor during her time at the independent St Hilda's School, which shut down in 2014, and later the Westcliff High School for Girls grammar school. In an interview with New York Daily News, she said "When I was 3, always cause drama that my mum decided maybe I should channel that energy in a more professional manner, so she started me in singing, acting and dancing classes".At the age of 10 she appeared as Young Nala in the West End production of the musical The King. The following year, she was selected as Missandei Daenerys Targaryen's interpreter, in HBO's fantasy drama series Game of Thrones. She revealed to Jimmy Kimmel that she learned about the role while working as an assistant in a clothing store. In 2015, Emmanuel was promoted to an actor on the show. Missandei was the only notable character who was female of colour in the show. In addition, her funeral scene, which occurred during her time in chains was not popular with viewers, being called an example of fridging and invoking the image of slavery.Emmanuel later told The Guardian: The reaction to her death was huge because she was the only one. A lot of people who felt marginalized or marginalized had felt connected to her or felt represented by them, especially women of colour.
